Stephen Mugosa (33, Incheon United) recalled the late former coach Yoo Sang-chul after scoring a total of 100 goals.
Mugosa led his team to a 2-0 complete victory by scoring multiple goals in the home game of the 13th round of the Hana Bank K League 2 2025 against the Jeonnam Dragons at Incheon Football Stadium on the 25th.
Mugosa, who scored multiple goals through a penalty kick on the day, scored his 99th and 100th goals in Incheon, reaching triple-digit goals for the first time in the club's history.
Mugosa, who joined Incheon in the 2018 season, played for Vissel Kobe (Japan) for a year from July 2022, returned to Incheon and has been wearing only the 'blue + black' uniform ever since. Mugosa has scored 86 goals in the K League 1, 12 goals in the K League 2, and two goals in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL), achieving 100 goals in a total of 198 games.
Mugosa, who wrote the milestone, said, "I am happy to have achieved 100 goals in 200 games. I don't want to stop here," adding, "I would like to thank those who have come and helped me since 2018, especially my family. It is always an honor to score a goal in front of my fans. I am proud of this record, but I would be even more proud if I go to the K League 1."
When asked about his most memorable score among his 100 goals, Mugosa said, "The most special goal is a free kick goal against Seongnam FC. I played a difficult game after learning that Yoo Sang-chul was fighting cancer," and added, "I also remember scoring a goal against Daegu FC after returning from Vissel Kobe." Former coach Yoo led Incheon from May 2019 to January of the following year, and eventually led the team to remain even during his illness. Incheon is the last team that Yoo led in his lifetime.
If it had not been for the help of his teammates, he would not have been able to set a milestone. Mugosa said, "It's a difficult question," adding, "Aguillard (who joined the club) was also a really good teammate, and Gerson and Barlow are also players who show different classes," but added, "Now (my current teammates) Gerson and Barlow come to mind the most."
Thanks to Mugosa's activities and loyalty, fans shouted for the statue to be built. At first, the story was a joke, but now it seems to be getting serious. "I know there has been such a story for a long time. I'm kidding, but these words are really good to hear. I'm proud," he said, smiling, "Let's see what happens later."
Mugosa's goal, 먹튀검증 who has written a new history for the club, is only "promotion." Incheon, which had 11 wins (one draw and one loss) in 13 matches this season, is said to have cemented its dominance in the K League 2. "My goal was to promote from Chiang Mai (the training site for the offseason). I was able to achieve this goal because I had the best coach, coach, and top scorer as well as the best fan. I tried to follow the coach well and I think he is cruising," Mugosa said.
